santa using the iron on his suit

If we had one piece of advice for Santa on how to lower belly fat it is this:

You can eat a little bit of anything or a lot of some things but not both.

Belly fat is indicative of overall body fat so there is no magic way to target just that area HOWEVER targeted training of select muscle groups can create an illusion of changing body shape. The reality is that body sculpting is a huge commitment and maybe you just want to curb the creep of your waistline? Here is how to do it.

Eat less, move more.

I know that you know that the simple equation of a healthy weight is eating less overall calories/ kilojoules than you would at a higher weight. The majority of this is done through diet, however working with a personal trainer will help you raise your fitness and endurance to increase your overall activity and reduce boredom and hunger. It’s hard to snack in the middle of a personal training session and the endorphins at the end are better than a sugar rush!

All I want for Christmas is a waist!

Excess weight around the midsection puts you at risk for a number of cardiovascular conditions so the desire to get a trim tummy isn’t vanity, it’s sensible health protection. At Recharged Personal Training we believe positive minds get positive results so there is no benefit to feeling deflated if you are struggling to meet your goals. Santa has a team of reindeers to pull the sled, we can deliver a team of personal trainers to lead you to your goal and keep you on track!

Give yourself the gift of health and happiness- book in for 2022!

One of our clients had a friend who was wondering “when is the best time to contact the personal trainer near me?”. It might seem like a strange question but her reasoning was that there was no point starting personal training before the holidays. In fact, that is the best time to start! The weeks before and after Christmas are filled with food and cheer, however your body can start to feel a bit unhappy by New Years. Just one workout a week could help you keep your holiday stamina going and set you up for a healthy 2022!life is now sign in neon

The best cure is prevention: stay active!

We are all waiting to see what happens with COVID variants and booster vaccinations. The sad reality is that the very old, inactive and unhealthy, those with pre existing health issues and the very ill are the most vulnerable to viruses and infections. One of the best things you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones is eat nutritious, fresh food and lead an active lifestyle. The greatest gift you can give to yourself and those around you is not an elf on the shelf, it’s a personal trainer! You can choose one on one, two on one or three on one so everyone gets a turn and stays motivated.test on white background saying if not now then when

A personal trainer near me won’t fit under the tree!

You might have trouble wrapping our team and fitting us under the tree however we do have some more practical ways to give health and happiness to your loved ones. Our 10 class pass is $100 ($10 a class!) and gets you access to all our group fitness classes. Or call or email with some days and times you want to get started and we can give you one of our stylish flyers to pop into a Christmas stocking as a surprise.pink wall with black frame saying do it now

The best time to contact a personal trainer is always NOW!

You might think the best personal trainer is the fittest, best looking one but that would be a mistake! Your personal trainer is there to motivate you so the best personal trainer is someone who will understand your barriers to exercise and your fitness goals to keep you turning up to your sessions. Use these three questions to make sure you are getting the right trainer for your mindset.

“How will you motivate me?”

Asking a trainer this gives you a sense of how willing they are to get to know you. If they answer straight away with a list of strategies such as regular text messages, phone calls, goal tracking charts etc. without first finding out why you are there, you may want to shop around for a better listener. Your personal trainer is your coach so they need to get a full understanding of why you are there, what you want to achieve, what has and hasn’t worked in the past and whether you are willing to do the work. We know from experience we can lead a client to weights but we can’t make them lift!

“How will we determine success?”

This is a tricky one because you need to know if you have a fixed goal in mind (“ want to do a chin up”) or a vague goal (“I want to be fitter”). Fixed goals are easier to determine- it may mean setting small achievable goals such as building up to 45kg on the lat pull-down within 3 months. Vague goals need to be redefined in a more specific way such as “in 6 weeks I want to shave 30 seconds off my rowing time” or “I want to work up to three cardio blocks per session”. Setting realistic, time marked goals is vital to feeling your training is having an impact.

“What will keep me accountable”

The best personal trainer is one who is kind and understanding but holds you to account. At Recharged Personal Training we implemented a policy to require 24 hours notice to cancel a session or you are charged. This may seem harsh however we saw a 70% increase in attendance. It’s common to wake up and not want to workout or finish a day at work and have no energy for the gym. Either way you are already tired, you might as well work out! Our trainer will remind you of your session and commit to being there on time and ready to work with you. You meet us with that same energy and you are guaranteed to succeed.

Pick from our team to find the best personal trainer for you!

Do some people have workout motivation and some people don’t? How do you get motivated if it’s the last thing you want to do? Are personal trainers freaks of nature who just naturally want to push their bodies every day? You may sometimes feel like you are not cut out to stick to a workout routine but I promise you that the answer to consistent workouts is easier than you think. Try a few of our time-tested strategies and before you know it, you’ll be pumped for your daily workout and on-track to be our client of the month!a pair of feet poking out from a bed

Motivation vs habit.

Motivation is working yourself up to follow through with an action. A habit is something you do regularly without thinking about it. Which sounds easier to you? Pick a time of day and an activity (running, walking, yoga, exercise app- it doesn’t matter) and set your alarm. Now keep this up for 6 weeks and presto! You have your exercise habit locked in. finder about to press snooze on phone alarm

Mini mental steps.

What are you thinking about when you work up to your exercise of choice? If you are imagining the struggle you have already started to psych yourself out! Break it into small steps: put on socks, put on shoes, set up the video/ app/ bike. Break the activity into the small steps you need to do and tackle them one at a time. Before you know it you are halfway through your run without a second thought!

Don’t disappoint!

It’s easy to talk yourself out of a workout so lock your motivation in by recruiting a mate! If you make plans to work out with a friend you have to show up or you are letting them down too. If you can’t find someone to work out with you can enlist a personal trainer. We have heard every excuse under the sun and know how to call out the lies and uncover the real barriers (fear, discomfort, boredom). Let us keep you accountable and set you up in the good habit you need to stay on track. two women in workout gear sipping smoothies

HIIT workout stands for High Intensity Interval Training. This means bursts of intense activity followed by a short cool down and then repeat. The idea is to quickly find your limit and briefly stay there, then recover and try again. This type of exercise works well for people who are wanting to build endurance, burn calories, increase cardiovascular fitness and add a diverse exercise program to their workouts.grup fitness class doing a HIIT workout

What does a HIIT workout look like?

You can tailor a HIIT workout at home to your personal fitness goals or find a trainer or circuit group who have a workout mapped out for you. The goal in HIIT is to find your limit as quickly as possible and try to stay there or push past it. This might mean punching with dumbbells for 60 seconds until your arms fatigue. It might mean short distance sprints (extra points if it’s up a hill!). You may be doing a few heavy reps on the leg press with a short break, then try again. The activity might change, the intensity remains!woman using the water grinder machine

Can I do HIIT workouts with Recharged Personal Training?

One of the biggest searches online is “how to get skinny fast” and the answer is so simple it will astound you! Don’t eat. Doesn’t sound very healthy does it? It’s not. At Recharged Personal Training we won’t put our client’s health at risk: physical or mental. We know that reducing body weight comes in many forms: water weight, crash starvation, losing a limb; while people can actually put on weight (as muscle) and look leaner than they did at a lower weight.

Ask yourself “why?”

At first it might seem like skinny is a body shape ideal but who is really promoting that? Advertising. Models, actors and singers are part of an industry designed to sell you things by making you feel bad. We are offering to sell you something too but it’s the best thing you can do for your body and mind! Working out in a positive, small studio is a safe and effective way to build muscle, increase fitness and change how you use your body with positive results.

Positive mind, positive body, positive life.

Make a studio appointment today!

Our studio in Virginia on the Brisbane northside is the perfect set-up to get the most out of your workout for the least expense. Value for money relies on you getting outcomes from the service. A $10 weekly super gym isn’t a good deal if you don’t turn up, or your workouts aren’t pushing you to your limit. Likewise a home gym with a shiny multipurpose weights rig or top of the line peloton needs you using it regularly to pay off. By choosing a personal trainer you get the best value from your hard earned dollar because we make sure you turn up and do the work.coloured dumbells

Location and availability are going to be the two main factors to consider. Price is relative to value so hopefully you can see the advantage of a personal trainer (we do fitness classes too). Finding a personal trainer who suits your temperament is a mixture of luck and locality. Some trainers are an easy choice because they specialise in something you love, however others may be the perfect fit for you even though on first meeting it seems you have little in common. The magic of finding the right trainer comes down to turning up, communicating openly and seeing if the results are worth it! However some people just prefer a specific gender and that’s fine- we do not get offended. If you are looking for a female personal trainer then you can’t do better than TC.

Sweet, kind and ruthless: You can’t be mad, though!

TC is originally from America however we promise she’s one of the good ones! Her bubbly personality and friendly approach is supported by a rigorous athletic background. You can read all about her training philosophy and achievements here, but trust us when we say she’s a bullet with butterfly wings. Her lethal workouts feel like heaven while you are doing them but the next day you will feel muscles you didn’t even know were there! If you’ve ever watched a social media advertisement using resistance bands and a peachy butt then save yourself the hard work at home by letting TC get you there. woman helping man with weights

Feel comfortable with a female trainer.

Sometimes you just feel more comfortable working hard and making those gym faces with a female trainer- we get it! Our small studio is an inclusive, non judgmental environment with changing and shower facilities, strict COVID hygiene protocols and a range of one-on-one sessions or group fitness classes to suit your schedule. To secure a spot with TC, call or email us to set up a studio tour and see if we can find a time to work for you. It only takes one session a week to start you on a life-changing fitness transformation. woman checking her watch while others work out
